A key Unite customer identified a significant fire risk on a building within their portfolio. This particular building presented a number of major structural issues to resolve.
A number of years ago, a London City building had been enlarged by adding addition floors onto its existing roof. Timberframe construction was utilised, above 18 metres and formed the structural integrity of the walls and floors.
Unable to remove the timber without de-constructing, we partnered with BRE to prove the encapsulation of the timber, in a number of scenarios.
In BRE test centre, Watford, we constructed a number of Rigs to a specific Wintech design – the rigs were duly furnace burnt and readings taken.
The result of the tests proved that 2 scenarios were acceptable and received a BS8414 Certificate.
The solution to the actual building is now being detail designed, with expected delivery on site in Spring 2023.
