The façade remediation of Cosmopolitan House involves removing the existing external wall construction which comprises of timber cladding fixed to a timber frame, with combustible Kingspan PIR insulation. This type of insulation presents a significant fire risk as it can actively contribute to and sustain fire growth and spread. In addition, no cavity barriers were identified during the inspection.
The scope of works includes the complete removal of all combustible components of the cladding system, as outlined in the Fire Engineering Report. The timber cladding will be replaced with non-combustible materials achieving a minimum classification of A2-s1,d0 or better.
