Situated in the city centre and a popular hotel for visitors to Swindon, the upper 3 floors of Duke House were identified to be non-compliant construction above 18metres.
The lack of cavity barriers and use of K15 Kingspan insulation left the cavity requiring full reconstruction using the appropriate materials and design.
The building was fully occupied during construction and due to the lightweight wall construction, all measures to protect the internal environment had to be made. A fully sheeted, fire resistant enclosure was established.
Unite were commissioned by M7 Fund Management in April of 2020. Working with Cladtech and OFR Fire, we carried out invasive investigations into the existing structure and quickly designed a workable compliant solution.
