Currently progressing through the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) application process, the façade remediation of The Foundry, Leeds, involves the removal of the existing aluminium rainscreen cladding system and support rails across all elevations to enable the replacement of all fire barriers with new, compliant systems.
Once the fire barriers are installed, the vertical support rails will be replaced, and the existing rainscreen cladding reinstated. Additional horizontal fire cavity barriers will be fitted at the junctions of brickwork walls and copings to compartmentalise these areas, while vertical barriers will be installed where the inner skin of the building is open.
Further fire protection measures include installing cavity fire barriers around plastic extraction ducting within the cladding system to prevent fire spread and improve overall building safety.
