Currently progressing through the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) application process, the façade remediation of Turner Court in Shieldfield, Newcastle, involves the removal and replacement of the existing rainscreen cladding system and spandrel panels, alongside the installation and upgrading of cavity barriers within both the cladding and masonry systems.
The works include replacing the Trespa Meteon high-pressure laminate cladding and PIR insulation with materials achieving Euroclass A2-s1,d0 or better, and installing new vertical cavity fire barriers at compartment wall lines and around window openings. Additional fire barriers and sleeves will be fitted to the brickwork elevations and around extraction duct penetrations to improve fire stopping and prevent fire spread.
A section of non-combustible insulated render will remain in place as it already meets current regulations. All works will be carried out using mast climbers, providing efficient and safe access to all elevations.
