The building and façade remediation works of Westgate comprise of the replacement of existing curtain walling systems, renewal of the roof covering, installation of new decking, basement tanking works, and associated internal redecoration following the completion of the remedial works.
The external works comprise of the removal of sections of the existing brickwork, with temporary brick restraint systems installed where required to maintain stability during the works. This will facilitate the installation of new cavity fire barriers and cavity closers in accordance with the approved fire remediation design. The existing curtain walling systems will be removed and replaced with new compliant curtain walling assemblies, including all associated flashings, interfaces, insulation and fire-stopping measures.
Following completion of the external remedial works, internal areas affected by the construction activities, including those adjacent to the curtain walling replacements and basement tanking works, will be made good and redecorated to match the existing finishes. In addition, fire door remedial works will be undertaken throughout the building by a specialist subcontractor appointed separately. These works will be carried out under the supervision, coordination and management of Unite, ensuring they are integrated with the overall programme and undertaken in accordance with the project's health and safety arrangements.
